Lilly Reports Higher Sales Led by Diabetes and Weight-Loss Medicines
Updated 23 September 2026
What Is Happening
Eli Lilly reported $23 billion in revenue for the second quarter of 2026, up 48% from a year earlier. The drugmaker attributed much of the growth to Mounjaro and Zepbound, two Lilly brands containing the same drug, tirzepatide. In the United States, Mounjaro is used for type 2 diabetes and Zepbound for weight management.
Lilly said sales volumes across the business rose 60%, while the prices the company received fell 13%. Selling more medicine outweighed the effect of those lower prices. The $23 billion is total company revenue, including other Lilly medicines; it is neither profit nor sales of the two leading products alone.
Lilly also raised the amount it expects to earn from sales during 2026 to $85 billion–$87 billion, from $82 billion–$85 billion. That forecast reflects the company’s expectations for the rest of the year and is separate from the quarterly sales already reported.
