Poolbeg Announces £3.5 Million Share Sale to Fund Drug Trials

Updated 23 September 2026

What Is Happening

Poolbeg Pharma announced a £3.5 million fundraising through the sale of new shares to institutional and other investors. The investors provide money to Poolbeg in exchange for ownership stakes in the company. The £3.5 million total is before the costs of arranging the share sale.

Poolbeg develops experimental medicines and says the funds will help complete two studies. One tests the safety and absorption of a GLP-1 obesity medicine taken by mouth. The other, called TOPICAL, tests whether Poolbeg’s POLB 001 can prevent a severe immune reaction triggered by certain cancer treatments.

The money therefore supports further testing rather than the launch of an approved product. Under the July 14 announcement, the fundraising was conditional on the new shares being admitted to trading on the London Stock Exchange’s AIM market, expected on July 21.
