Fierce Biotech Reports Lilly Has Stopped Developing an Experimental Obesity Drug

Eli Lilly has stopped developing an experimental obesity medicine known by the research code LY4064912, according to Fierce Biotech. A Lilly spokesperson told the publication that the drug had not met the company’s criteria for further development.
Lilly makes approved medicines such as Zepbound, but LY4064912 was a separate candidate still undergoing early human testing. The report says Lilly ended a study involving 77 people. That study was in Phase 1, when researchers examine safety, suitable doses and how the body responds before proceeding to larger studies.
Fierce Biotech did not provide detailed results, and Lilly did not disclose to the publication how LY4064912 was intended to work.
