Novo Nordisk says its experimental CagriSema injection produced more weight loss than a tested dose of Lilly’s tirzepatide in adults with type 2 diabetes. The comparison does not cover every available dose.
Lilly says construction has begun on a $6.5 billion Houston factory to make ingredients for Foundayo and other medicines. The factory is intended to expand production capacity; it is not yet operating.
Lilly has stopped work on the experimental obesity drug LY4064912, Fierce Biotech reported. The decision concerns an early research project, rather than Lilly’s approved weight-loss medicines.
Fierce Pharma reported record weekly prescriptions for Novo’s Wegovy pill and Lilly’s Foundayo. The figures track prescriptions, including refills, rather than new patients or comparative treatment results.
Investors led by BVF Partners are providing Superluminal with $60 million to advance an experimental obesity treatment. Lilly is participating as an investor in this funding round.
Lilly reports one-year results from studies adding weight-loss drug Zepbound to Taltz, its treatment for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. The studies compared the combination with Taltz alone.
Lilly says U.S. regulators have expanded Mounjaro’s approved uses to include reducing cardiovascular risks in high-risk adults with type 2 diabetes. Mounjaro was already approved for blood-sugar control.
Lilly reports lower medical spending among older adults using its weight-loss injection Zepbound. The estimates exclude the medicine’s price and cannot establish that treatment caused the difference.
Lilly says demand for Mounjaro and Zepbound helped lift quarterly sales to $23 billion. Both medicines contain tirzepatide, sold under different brands for diabetes and weight management.
Lilly announced an expanded role for Daniel Skovronsky as chief scientific and product officer, overseeing research and development alongside launches and product strategy in cardiometabolic health, immunology and neuroscience. He continues to report to chair and CEO David Ricks.
